  • 2007.7.25 morning: Dr.Yu Wang from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte visited Self-Organizing Network and Information Coding Lab (SONIC) of our department on invitation. Dr. Wang gave an academic lecture titled by "Optimizing Network Performance with Changing and Uncertain Traffic Demands".
  • 2007.7.23 afternoon: Dr.Yuxi Li from the University of Alberta visited Self-Organizing Network and Information Coding Lab (SONIC) of our department on invitation. On 2:00 p.m., Dr. Li gave an academic lecture titled by "Optimizing Network Performance with Changing and Uncertain Traffic Demands", the methods used in this research-Minimax linear programming optimization, is a critical way to deal with the problem of decision making under uncertainty, thus is of great importance to help scholars studying network and artificial intelligence.
  • 2007.7.23: Assoc. Prof. Baochun Li of Canada Toronto University visited Self-Organizing Network and Information Coding Lab (SONIC) of our department on invitation. On the 23rd morning, Professor Li gave an academic lecture titled by "Peer-to-Peer Network Live Streaming with Coding : Myth or Reality" at Yuan Cheng Ying Computer Building, Report Room 118. He exchanged in depth with teachers and students in the lab of problems about P2P NC Streaming. Lab member Huang Zheng introduced related works of network coding on routers, Professor Kan Haibin introduced problem of point capacity factor, and Lab member Deng Liang introduced his work on reducing computing overhead in network coding problems.
  • 2007.4.16 afternoon 1:30-2:30: Hao Chen, an assistant professor at the University of California, Davis visited Self-Organizing Network and Information Coding Lab (SONIC) of our department on invitation. Hao Chen gave an academic lecture titled by "Securing Broadband Cellular Data Networks" at Yuan Cheng Ying Computer Building, Report Room 118, with a discussion about security problems of Broadband Cellular Data Networks and its unique vulnerabilities.
  • 2007.1.29: Assoc. Prof. Baochun Li of Canada Toronto University visited Self-Organizing Network and Information Coding Lab (SONIC) of our department on invitation. Prof. Li gave an academic lecture titled by "Network coding theory and new advances of applications". He exchange in depth with teachers and students in the lab about recent research hotspot and difficulty of network coding, possible breakthrough in the future, and practicability etc. Assoc. Prof. Xin Wang introduced recent research directions and advances of SONIC Lab. Both sides decided to develop cooperations gradually in the area of network coding research, paper publications of high quality, and student cultivation etc.
  • 2007.1.22: Prof. Laurie Cuthbert, Chair of Dept. of Electronic Engineering, of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) visited our department. The delegation visited the International Joint Research Laboratory on Mobile Networking & Ubiquitous Computing (MONUBIC) equally undertaken by Fudan University and Queen Mary University of London, and Shanghai Key Laboratory of Intelligent Information Processing. Both sides hoped to be able to deepen the role of the labs in international cooperations, especially in the area of joint applications for scientific research topics, paper publications of high quality, and student cultivation etc. Both sides decided to develop cooperations between professors in the area of network coding, wireless network and application directions.
  • 2007.1.13: Re-election conference of YOCSEF (CCF Young Computer Scientists & Engineers Forum) Shanghai Branch held successfully. The conference was equally undertaken by our department and Shanghai Key Laboratory of Intelligent Information Processing. Assoc. Prof. Xin Wang of our department, Chair of the academic committee of YOCSEF Shanghai Branch, presided at the meeting.
